Author Biography: Monica Diedrich

Dr. Monica Diedrich has been communicating with animals since the age of eight. She earned a Doctorate of Metaphysics from the Metaphysical Fellowship Church in Anaheim, California. Currently, Dr. Diedrich works as a pet communicator and provides consultations to clients around the globe.

Book Synopsis

Dr. Monica Diedrich's gift of psychic communication allows her entrance into the rich inner world of animals. Receiving their thoughts in the form of mental images, feelings, and sometimes words, she can converse with dogs, cats, birds, horses, etc. and give voice to their unheard wishes, concerns, needs, and fears.

These captivating, true stories of Dr. Diedrich's experiences take us into the extraordinary lives of beloved pets and their owners. Meet Sunshine the cat who loves country music, the Yorkie who receives regular visits from a recently-departed family member, the mysteriously missing African Gray, the sheepdog who teaches his owner about dying with dignity, and the Siamese who chooses to reincarnate as another cat and return to his owner. Funny, heartbreaking, thrilling, and touching, Dr. Diedrich's stories confirm the colorful, loving personalities of our furry friends and their significance in our lives.

Gr 7-10-Many people swear that their pets try to "talk" to them. Through the psychic skills of animal communicators like Diedrich, it is possible to know exactly what they are saying. The author describes the techniques she uses to get in touch with the minds of dogs, cats, birds, horses, rabbits, and even a wolf. She discovers their complaints and preferences, their affection and fears. Directly quoted conversations reveal pets' intelligence, devotion, and sense of humor. The author also works to heal sick animals and contact and guide lost creatures. Charming color photographs of an assortment of animals on the cover, halftone photographs at the beginning of each chapter, plus snapshots of Diedrich with contented animal clients further enliven the chatty accounts of the sessions. Most books on animal communication concentrate on describing body language and vocalizations animals use to relate to one another as opposed to humans. The nearly two dozen works listed in the bibliography stress psychic communication and the spiritual qualities of animal life. Anyone intrigued by these personal accounts can try communicating with their pets using the instructions in Judy Meyer's The Animal Connection (Penguin, 2000). Results of studies of animal behavior and ability such as predicting earthquakes and finding their way over long distances abound in Rupert Sheldrake's Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home (Crown, 1999).-Ann G.
