Author Biography: Sudarshan Khanna

Prof. Sudarshan Khanna heads the Toy Centre for research, evaluation and documentation at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. India's leading expert on folk and traditional toymaking, he has traveled throughout India gathering local traditional toys and working to keep these dying traditions alive. He works closely with indigenous toymakers and holds workshops with educators and children all over the world. Gita Wolf has written more than seventeen books for children and adults. A highly original and creative voice in contemporary Indian publishing, she has pursued her interest in exploring and experimenting with the form of the book and its status as a revered cultural object. Many of her children's books have won major international awards.
