Norberto Angeletti and Alberto Oliva have been working in journalism for thirty-five years. They have been keynote speakers at the Magazine Publishers Association of America (MPA) as well as international journalism forums. They are co-authors of the book In Vogue. Richard Stengel has a long history at Time and is currently the managing editor. He has also authored several books.

Not surprisingly, major historical events, including the two world wars, recessions, presidential elections, and the 9/11 attacks, are covered. Also included are social issues—e.g., women's liberation, the 1999 decision to rename the magazine's annual "Man of the Year" to "Person of the Year," the Civil Rights Movement, and gay rights. Divided into three sections and then roughly by date, the book ends with chapters on Time's "Person of the Year," which has run continuously since 1927, as well as the ten best-selling issues. Interviews with authors, designers, photographers, editors, and others lend a personal feel.
