Author Biography: Roz Chast

Roz Chast was born in Brooklyn, New York and now lives in Connecticut. Her cartoons have appeared in magazines galore, and she is the author of many books.

Book Synopsis

At last: the complete works from the beloved New Yorker cartoonist.

Since she sold her first cartoon to the New Yorker in 1978, Roz Chast has delighted the masses by nailing every idiosyncracy of our strange modern times. Her colorful, instantly recognizable style is matched by, according to O Magazine, "the wryest pen since Dorothy Parker s." In this wonderfully comprehensive collection spanning 27 years of her career, the world of Roz Chast emerges as one just as distinctive as those of Charles Addams or James Thurber. Drawn from the pages of magazines including Scientific American, Redbook, Double Take, and Fast Company as well as the New Yorker, and including never-before-published work as well, this book is a trove of entertainment for Roz Chast fans old and new.

The New York Times - Michiko Kakutani

In Theories of Everything Ms. Chast has brought together nearly three decades of work much of which has appeared in The New Yorker magazine and the volume gives the reader a keen appreciation of her range as an artist: her capacity to limn everything from the existential and Dada-esque (an unholy cow who hates being a cow) to the mundane and middle-class (what happens at a party after you leave).
