Beth V. Yarbrough is the Willard Long Thorp Professor of Economics at Amherst College. She also serves as Associate Editor of the international-relations journal International Organization. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington.

Robert M. Yarbrough is Adjunct Professor of Economics at Amherst College and Lecturer in Economics at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He also serves as Book Review Editor for the Journal of Bioeconomics. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington.

Beth Yarbrough and Robert Yarbrough, both affiliated with Amherst College, outline the basic tools of international economic analysis and illustrate these tools with applications to actual events, giving students a sense of the range of challenging and exciting issues that arise in the international economic arena. The text is self-contained and does not rely on students' memories from other economics courses. Many cases are new to this edition. The text can be used with students with only a previous one-semester introductory economics course, and, by assigning appendixes and supplementary reading, with students who have completed courses in intermediate macroeconomics.
