Michael Harris Bond is Professor of Psychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has lived and worked in Hong Kong for more than thirty years. His research interests include the social psychology of language use, impression management, cross-cultural social psychology, cross-cultural interaction, and social axioms.

Although the Chinese people constitute more than a quarter of the world's population, this book is the first to summarize and integrate the wealth of data available, both in Chinese and English, on the psychological functioning of the Chinese people.
