Pam Schiller, Ph.D., is an early childhood author, consultant, and highly sought after speaker. She has written numerous articles for early childhood journals, including Child Care Information Exchange and Texas Child Care Quarterly. Pam is the author of five early childhood curriculums, eleven children's books and more than 30 teacher and parent resource books.
A clear and easy-to-read guide for almost everything you need to know about early childhood administration.
This tidily packaged bookwith its school-sized chapters full of suggestions, charts, to-do activities and a host of resourcescan, if implemented properly, improve the quality of care given by any Child Care Manager (CCM), whether veteran or simply a budding one. While two-thirds of the book's 190 pages school the educator in issues with the profession itself, the other one-third consists primarily of repetitious lists such as professional CCM organizations, Internet resources, books, magazines and journals. The tone of the book, serious and factual, mirrors the format of unidentified people in the black-and-white photographs that are scattered throughout the entirely colorless contentsseemingly unequal in value to its hefty purchase price. However, to the CCM who invests her time, energy, and patience and sees the "these should happen" happening, the book can be worth its weight in salt. Also, the title's modifier, "Quality," before "Child Care" is justified in being there. 2001, Gryphon House, $24.95. Ages Adult. Reviewer:Patricia Timbrook
