Bruce Heinemann has photographed the landscape for over twenty five years.  He is the photographer of the critically-acclaimed, best-selling book, The Art of Nature: Reflections of a Grand Design.  He also authored and photographed a second best-selling book, A Guide to Photographing the Art of Nature.  His images have appeared in Sierra Magazine, Audobon, Outdoor Photographer, Alaska Airlines, and National Geographic, among others. He lives with his family in the town of Anacortes, on Fidalgo Island, in the San Juan Islands of Washington State.

"I like to think of my approach to photographing as free-form jazz composition.  I plan my trips to places based not so much upon landmarks or regions, but more by what forms, textures, patterns, colors, light and weather exist there. The idea is the basic compositional form of the trip, as it were. Within that form, I simply wander, letting myself be lured to a distant horizon where the rain is falling, or perhaps following a dry wash up a desert canyon to see what marvels of forms and colors the passing of millions of years have left in the Kayenta sandstone walls."
