Michael A. Dreese is the vice-president of the Susquehanna Civil War Round Table and author of The 151st Pennsylvania Volunteers at Gettysburg (2000). He lives in Middleburg, Pennsylvania.
Union Cavalry General John Buford directed the opening stages of the battle of Gettysburg from the cupola of the dormitory of the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary. At one point, 600 to 700 wounded soldiers from both armies were cared for at the Seminary. This work presents the history of the Seminary during the Civil War, drawing on firsthand accounts of soldiers, civilians, surgeons, and relief personnel. B&w historical photos are included. Dreese is vice president of the Susquehanna Civil War Round Table. He has written a previous book about the battle of Gettysburg.

"This book is a solid piece of Gettysburgiana...Dreese covers a lot of territory...engagingly written, this book would work well in both young adult and adult nonfiction collections"
