Book Synopsis

Teaching Children Science:  A Discovery Approach, Seventh Edition

Dr. Joseph Abruscato, Retired from University of Vermont

Dr. Donald DeRosa, Boston University

While encouraging a “discovery approach” to teaching science, this popular text provides comprehensive coverage of the three major aspects of science teaching–methods, content, and activities. A motivating and engaging writing style makes this one of the most accessible science methods book on the market today. Extensively revised, this seventh edition presents the progression of inquiry and the 5Es of Learning as a theme of the text and the framework for each chapter.  This consistent framework throughout the methods, content, and activities helps novice teachers establish a solid foundation in science pedagogy for application to lesson planning and classroom instruction.
