Book Synopsis
Gottlieb, a private practitioner specializing in the treatment of gay men, looks at how sons react to learning that their fathers are gay, drawing on interviews with 12 sons to reveal how family relationships and sons' and fathers' lives changed over time after disclosure. Presenting much material in the sons' own words, Gottlieb also describes the research process for this qualitative study and discusses findings within the context of psychoanalytic theory.
