This book has a clear pronunciation guide at the front to help students decipher the phonetic listing in each entry. This dictionary also contains a listing of common abbreviations, acronyms, and initials. In the front of the book, a reference page helps students understand how each dictionary entry is divided into syllable breaks, with a pronunciation guide, part of speech, homophones, related words, word forms, usage guide, and of course, the definition or definitions. Unlike most dictionaries with white pages and black type, this volume has a friendly blue wavy design along the borders of each page. Each page has the section highlighted within a dark blue tab shape. Each separate word entry is in blue, too. The type is quite large for a dictionary and is in a legible, sans serif typeface. The back matter contains a page of basic measurement tables for length, weight, and temperature. The final pages contain a list of facts about the fifty states.
