Klatt (biomedical sciences, Florida State University College of Medicine) and Kumar (pathology, University of Chicago) provide a review of pathology. In keeping with the style used by the USMLE, the book includes single best answer questions, most with a clinical vignette, followed by a series of choices. This approach emphasizes an understanding of pathophysiologic mechanisms and manifestations of disease in a clinical context. I would strongly recommended this review to medical students both at all stages of their undergraduate training, but particularly in the run-up to finals, and to trainee pathologists intending to sit the new style part 1 exam. This book is exceptionally good value, and will surely earn a valued place alongside its parent Robbins on every pathology student's bookshelf.
