Book Synopsis

Ricky Ricotta loves his Mighty Robot, but sometimes it's hard for a little mouse to have a best friend who's so BIG. One night, Ricky makes a wish: If only his Mighty Robot had another friend who was his own size so he wouldn't have to hang out with Ricky all the time. Little does Ricky know, his wish is about to come true. Evil Uncle Unicorn has traveled all the way from Uranus with a mean and nasty plan. He's built a giant Ladybot to trick the Mighty Robot so he can take over planet Earth. Once again, it's up to Ricky and his pals to save the day.

Emily Cook - Children's Literature

Ricky Ricotta is tired of having a buddy that's bigger than life. So when he wishes his robot had a friend his own size to play with, he is surprised when his wish sort of comes true. While Ricky's wishing away, far off in the galaxy Uncle Unicorn and his three Uranium Unicorn cronies are busy polluting their planet to the point that it is no longer inhabitable. Uncle Unicorn has made a lot of money by allowing toxic dumping on his planet. Now it is time to take over Earth. The only thing in his way is Ricky's Mighty Robot. Disguised as a larger-than-life lady robot, Uncle Unicorn tricks Ricky's Robot and captures him, preparing to destroy him forever. Just in the nick of time, Ricky and his cousin Lucy come up with a plan to rescue his robot before it is too late. Despite a few classic setbacks Ricky and Lucy successfully unveil who is behind the lady robot's facade. They fend off the evil trio of Uranium Unicorns, saving the day. Dav Pilkey once again brings us another Ricky Ricotta that delivers the goods. Early readers will find Ricky Ricotta and his Mighty Robot a fun, easy read. This series is particularly good for reluctant readers, as the stories and text are simple and easy to follow, and the illustrations are funny. 2005, Scholastic, Ages 5 to 9.
