Judy Herr, PhD, is professor of early childhood at the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Dr. Herr is the chairperson of the Annual University of Wisconsin - Stout Early Childhood Education Conference and a member of numerous early childhood organizations. Dr. Herr is a frequent lecturer at early childhood conferences and seminars and has published many articles and books on early childhood topics.
Terri Jo Swim, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of Early Childhood Education at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne (IPFW). She has been in the field of early childhood education for over 15 years. She has worked in private child care centers, university-based laboratory infant/toddler and preschool programs, and summer camps with children ages birth to 13 years. Terri is also the co-author of CREATIVE RESOURCES FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS, 2ND EDITION, with Dr. Judy Herr. Current research interests include infant-toddler and preschool curriculum, Reggio Emilia, documentation, and teacher education.
Recent research on brain development emphasizes the importance of the environment and relationships during the child's first three years of life.
