Yi-Fu Tuan was the John K. Wright and Vilas Research Professor of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is the author of fourteen books, including, most recently, Human Goodness and Coming Home to China. Martha A. Strawn is professor emerita of art at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and the author of Alligators: Prehistoric Presence in the American Landscape.

What does it mean to be religious in the modern world? This is the question posed by well-known human geographer, Yi-Fu Tuan in Religion: From Place to Placelessness. In this, the latest book in his long and distinguished career, Tuan turns to this specific challenge, which has been a uniting current in much of his previous work.
