Book Synopsis

What do six alien clones with flaming red hair, a pack of mutant immortal space amphibian assassins, sex, drugs, and every major player in the history of rock 'n' roll, from Elvis to Jimi Hendrix to David Bowie, have in common? They're all integral to the plot of Mike Allred's Red Rocket 7, possibly the coolest graphic novel in the history of the universe -- designed specifically for those of you who like your science fiction fantasies with power chords and plenty of glam.

VOYA

Originally published by Dark Horse Comics ten years ago, this stand-alone volume follows the life of extraterrestrial clone, Red Rocket 7, as he lives through rock en' roll history. Starting with Little Richard and Elvis and then on to Great Britain for the Beatles and the Stones, Allred creates a vehicle to showcase his love of music. Besides all the rock memorabilia splattered throughout the pages, this graphic novel also has a subplot of alien assassins trying to kill the seven clones and the Original before they can complete a prophecy. Bold colors fill the panels. With a flair for pop art, the famous musicians are easily identifiable and are introduced chronologically in rock `n' roll history. The clones have no pupils, which can be disconcerting with their solid red or black eyes. The science fiction aspect of the story line is convoluted and feels as if the reader needs another book or two to fully comprehend it, but its stroll through rock `n' roll is a pleasant journey worthy of any music fan. The drug use and sexuality displayed within the panels are realistic of the times and are modestly detailed. This tenth anniversary graphic novel is remastered and contains bonus material such as a cover gallery, a new introduction, and an outro by musician and comic creator Gerard Way.
