Book Synopsis

That's right -- Imogene and Evie are headed to the fashion capital of the world. Armed with internships, petit fours, and beaucoup fashion sense, this summer is going to be beyond fabulous!

But what happens when the high-fashion models go on strike just days after the girls arrive? Couture week is canceled, designers are fleeing Paris, and Imogene's got a case of the gloomies.

That is, until the girls "discover" a mysterious, unnamed designer who just might lure fashion back to Paris....

Children's Literature

Seventeen-year-old Imogene and her best pal Evie have secured internships in Paris! But, quelle horror, when there is a models' strike shortly after their arrival, Imogene must scramble to find another way to justify her stay in THE only city for fashion. When the girls accidentally stumble upon an unknown designer's highly original yet undiscovered work, they pass it off as being someone they have discovered, which is not true (at least at the time). Through a number of twists and turns—some fairly predictable, some completely outlandish—the plot is tied up in a neat and tidy bow at the conclusion. This book provides numerous negative messages to readers: If you are wealthy then nothing else really matters; seventeen year olds are perfectly fine living unsupervised in major European capitals; and stealing is okay and actually applauded, to name but a few. The illustrator has done wonders with seemingly random yet appropriately placed drawings. This book is the second offering from this author about Imogene. Not a necessary purchase.
