Step-by-step instructions show to use items found in nature, such as leaves, flowers, and coffee beans to create original craft projects.
The "Let's Create" series of craft books are reminiscent of another era. The projects and materials are unusual. The books were translated from Spanish, which may explain the unfamiliar supplies and old-fashioned projects. Plants and seeds are used to create art projects. Although substitutions can be made, many of these supplies specifically indicated may be hard to find. The first project calls for small bottle gourds and 14" reeds. The little planter/gourd garden is cute, but a lot of improvising would be required. The second project is to make poppy seed pods into a rattle. Note cards are made by cutting up leaves and gluing them on to paper. The supply list includes eucalyptus leaves and poppy petals. These things may not be readily available. Each project is on a spread that is illustrated with large photographs. This series of books was apparently developed for another culture and are not well adapted for a contemporary American audience. 2003, Gareth Stevens Publishing, Ages 5 to 9.
