Known as UV-curing, the technology of photoininitiated polymerizations is a hot field for research and applications in coatings, adhesives, and printing inks as well as microelectronic encapsulation, photo- and stereolithography and holographic data storage. Advances in the field are good news for the environment, because the use of the technology can reduce or eliminate the use of solvents. Selected expanded papers from a RadTech symposium held in Chicago (August 2001) report on recent research in free radical and cationic photopolymerizations, novel photopolymerization chemistry, and new and emerging applications. Editors Belfield and Crivello are affiliated, respectively, with the University of Central Florida and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The book is distributed by Oxford University Press.
