Amy Hackney Blackwell is an attorney and writer. She holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, an MA in history from Vanderbilt University, and an AB from Duke University. Her past occupations include various teaching jobs — LSAT test-prep, paralegal training, and two years of teaching English in Japan on the JET Program; several years as a researcher in the UVA Law Library; and a stint as a theatrical technician and lighting designer. Oh, yes, and she is a member of the South Carolina Bar and worked as a lawyer for several years, but doesn’t do that now.
