Fifteen fantastic ideas for funky accessories create the perfect original fashion statement and great presents for friends and relatives. The Ecocrafts group has put together a number of crafts little girls can create using recycled and household materials, including mostly jewelry and hair items, but also a few hand bags and a jewelry box. Required materials include such things as ribbons, magazine pages, wrapping paper, buttons, clothespins, paper towel roll, and then scissors, needles, thread, paintbrushes and glue as tools. The creations are cute and simple that younger girls would enjoy making and wearing and would require little if any supervision for most of them. Parents might enjoy seeing some reminders of crafts from their day, as some of them are recycled ideas as well. Some of the activities are fairly quick, while some would require more time, but the bright colors both on the pages of the book and in the items created, as well as the utility and beauty of the materials, would keep young minds engaged on a rainy day. The book also includes step by step instructions for the more involved tasks, as well as an index in the back. Reviewer: Heidi Quist
