Author Biography: Ray Fazakas

Ray Fazakas, now a retired lawyer, lives with his wife in what used to be and still remains to some extent the backwoods of the Beverly Swamp near Hamilton, Ontario. They purchased this forested property when they were both in their twenties and on it Ray built with his own hands - and a chainsaw and axe - a log cabin where they camped out on weekends while their three children were growing up. On the land they have seen much wildlife such as deer, cougar, pileated woodpeckers and so on. Over sixteen years ago they built a residence on this property and have lived there ever since. It is just far enough away from the scene of the Donnelly massacre by about an hour's drive to keep him out of trouble with the descendants of the forty or more vigilantes. Ray has nevertheless come to know many of those descendants of the Peace Society who are far more receptive of his approaches now that the story has come out of the closet. He was the only person ever to have interviewed the last of the family - son of Will Donnelly - to bear the famous surname.
