Children's Literature

Kids love to draw. The great thing about drawing is that it only requires the most basic of tools that are readily available: paper and pencil. This series, "Ready Set Draw!," includes titles that are guaranteed to be popular with kids of all ages. Sample topics include horses, dogs, cats, cars, trucks, and motorcycles. What makes this series unique among the literally hundreds of "how to draw" books are the color-coded lines and shapes illustrating the proper sequence for developing each drawing. This mimics how artists draw and helps build a solid foundation for drawing skills. Each completed drawing as shown in the book is a fully colored image placed on a photograph, putting the object or animal in an appropriate environment. This encourages young artists to use colored pencils to finish their drawings and provides an image to use as reference. In this volume about horses, readers learn to draw Clydesdales, Lipizzans, Shetland ponies, Arabians, and Mustangs among others. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
