Author Biography: Charles J. Jacobus

Charles J. Jacobus received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston in 1970 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1973. He is board certified by the State Bar of Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both residential and commercial real estate law. He is a member of the American College of Lawyers and the Houston Real Estate Lawyer's Council, and has served as president of the Real Estate Educators' Association, chairman of the Real Estate Section of the Houston Bar Association, and chairman of the American Bar Association Committee on Real Estate Brokers and Brokerage. He has served on the Board of Editors for the American Bar Association Committee on Books and Publications, was Mayor of his hometown, Bellaire, Texas, and currently serves on the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Council of the State Bar of Texas, and is chairman of the State Bar of Texas Committee on Title Insurance.

Thomas E. Gillett has been a real estate and appraisal licensee and educator for over 30 years through 4 decades. Beginning his real estate career after military service in the early 1970's, he has become well respected in education for his ability to explain complex concepts in simple and practical terms which students can both understand and apply. Tom has developed a presentation style that involves playful interaction with his students which, while educationally dynamic, is at the same time entertaining. He continues to conduct in excess of 500 classes per year for both candidates for real estate and appraisal licensure and those already practicing in the profession. He is a primary instructor for Georgia's Graduate REALTOR? Institute and the popular Partner's In Education program. His accomplishments have been recognized as he was named the Georgia Instructor Of The Year for 2003 and in 2006, his long career achievements were honored as he was presented the Career Achievement Award by the Georgia Real Estate Educators Association.
