One of the best beginning guides to the habit-forming love called flyfishing...complete and fully illustrated it (Flyfishing: First Cast to First Fish) takes the mystery out of the sport.--The Book Reader, ABA Issue
This is yet another ``complete'' guide for beginners. Incongruous is the cover photo of a wilderness fisherwoman sporting an extravagant set of long, masterfully painted fingernails. Nonetheless, most of the standard topics are covered in standard fashion. Some illustrations are unnecessary but the graphic component is generally adequate. Little space is devoted to the living insect, the imitation of which is the unique province of flyfishing. This reasonably priced title is worth considering for libraries wanting another basic text. Others can stand pat if they own David Lee's Fly Fishing ( LJ 5/15/82) and at least one of the following: Lee Wulff's Trout on a Fly ( LJ 10/15/86), Paul N. Fling and Donald L. Puterbaugh's Fly Fisherman's Primer ( LJ 7/85), or Dave Whitlock's video presentation, Introduction to Fly Fishing (L.L. Bean, 1985).-- David Panciera, Westerly P.L., R.I.
