Reviewer:Julie Khoury, MD(Mayo Clinic Hospital)
Description:This concise review of neurology and psychiatry for individuals taking their neurology boards or recertification examinations uses many tables, illustrations, and mnemonics.
Purpose:The purpose is to provide the most useful and current guide to the American Boards of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification and recertification exams. There is a need for a high-quality, succinct neurology review aimed at individuals preparing for initial certification or recertification exams.
Audience:It is written for neurology residents and neurologists preparing to take their certification or recertification exams.
Features:The book covers all major neurology and psychiatry topics on the exams. It includes some nice tables and illustrations, and mnemonics and high-yield facts are located in the margins.
Assessment:This is a nice, concise review of high-yield neurology and psychiatry topics focused on preparing for neurology board examinations. It can easily be read or reviewed in a short period of time, and the tables and graphics are also helpful. It is not, however, a thorough review of neurology and would be more useful when combined with a comprehensive reference textbook for neurology board exam preparation.
