In North America writers are not expected to run for political office. With passion and great appetite, Gérald Godin embraced poetry, journalism, and politics. He was a Parti Québécois member of Quebec's National Assembly since 1976 and held senior cabinet posts. But first and foremost, Gérald Godin was a poet. These poems reflect a man who was eclectic, cosmopolitan, generous, humorous, sometimes fatalistic, and vulnerable. Evenings at Loose Ends is his seventh book of poetry.
