When she was twenty, Dion Fortune found herself the subject of a particularly powerful form of psychic attack, which ultimately led to a nervous breakdown. With the benefit of hindsight, and her experience as a practising occultist and natural psychic, she wrote Psychic Self Defence, a detailed instruction manual for protection against paranormal malevolence. The chapters in this book consist of articles that appeared in the Inner Light Journal, house journal of the Society of the Inner Light, between Spring 1997 and December 2001. They have as a common theme, aspects of the life and work of Dion Fortune, founder of the Society.
