Rex Stout (1886-1975) was the creator Nero Wolfe, one of the most popular detectives ever.
Michael Prichard is a Los Angeles-based actor who has narrated more than 400 audiobooks. Smart Money has named him one of the "Top Ten Golden Voices."

The story opens with Archie discovering a "honey-haired corpse" lying on the floor of her plush bedroom with a crushed skull. Archie determines that she is a doxy*—a fact that is key to the murder, its motivation, and perpetrator. As the characters reveal their relationships to the doxy, Wolfe is challenged to make deductions from a total lack of evidence. As they wrap up the case, Wolfe pronounces that Archie's role was "brilliant," a highly unusual accolade from a highly eccentric boss.

Veteran narrator Michael Prichard is a perfect fit for Goodwin, brandishing an ample, old-fashioned voice with a suitably wised-up delivery. His rendering of the fastidious, condescending Wolfe, too, is flawless in tone and interpretation, right down to a vintage, dismissive "phooey!"
