The book includes the latest NCLEX-RN Test Plan content with new question formats. Rationales and test-taking tips are given for every question. This is the 2nd edition of this text. (pp. 942)
Purpose:The purpose of this book is to assist RN students to review essential nursing content and pass the NCLEX-RN examination. These are worthy objectives and the authors have met them well.
Audience:The book is written for the student aspiring to be a registered nurse who must take the NCLEX-RN examination. According to the authors, whether the student is a first time or repeat test taker, the text will help them to pass. The authors are credible authorities on the subject of the matter of the book.
Features:For each major section, relevant content is reviewed and thousands of practice questions are presented based on the latest official NCLEX-RN test plan. According to the authors, this is the only NCLEX-RN review book with clinical pathways for management of care. All questions are coded for client needs/sub needs, clinical area, cognitive level of difficulty, nursing process step and category of human function congruent with available information about the NCLEX-RN Test Plan. Detailed rationales for all correct and incorrect answers are given. Test taking tips are offered for all questions. A new 500 question pre-test is available for students' to take. Updated unit review questions with an integrated practice test, a final test and a computerized test are also available for students.
Assessment:The review text is of excellent quality. Study tips and strategies and relaxation exercises are a plus. Numerous appendices including indexes to enable students to quickly find questions and content based on the official NCLEX-RN Test Plan are also available to students. This 2nd edition does justify replacing the previous edition.
