Author Biography: Kathy Tuchman Glass

Kathy Tuchman Glass is a passionate educator. She is a former teacher and master teacher who now consults for schools and districts as a curriculum and instruction coach. Before authoring Curriculum Design for Writing Instruction: Creating Standards-Based Lesson Plans and Rubrics, she co-wrote for a literature textbook, served as literary consultant, and reviewed textbooks. Currently, she works with a myriad of teachers from new to veteran -- from one-on-one to whole staff -- in areas affecting curriculum and instruction, specifically: creates comprehensive standards-based language arts and social studies curriculum; assists schools/districts with strategic planning and helps to execute the plan; coaches teachers in instructional methods to improve their teaching; performs classroom demonstrations; facilitates sessions to score student work, assess growth, define areas of weakness, and create an action plan; collaborates with teachers to map their year long standards-based curriculum; and more. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Kathy now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two children, and their imaginary dog.
