Author Biography: J. Scott Harr

J. Scott Harr has been employed in various areas of the law for more than 28 years. He has been a social worker and a youth worker. For over 11 years he served as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Public Safety Director for a suburb of the Twin Cities and served as a police officer for two other cities before that. In addition, Scott has served as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. He is licensed as a lawyer, police officer and private investigator, and founded "Scott Harr Legal Investigati

Kören Matison Hess holds a Ph.D. in English and in instructional design from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in criminal justice from Pacific Western University. Dr. Hess has also co-authored eight texts on criminal justice. She is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Association of University Women, the American Correctional Association, the American Society for Industrial Security, the American Society of Criminologists, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA), and the Police Executive Research Forum. She is also a fellow and a member of the foundation board of the Text and Academic Authors Association.
