Joyce Whiteley Hawkes received her Ph.D. in biophysics from Pennsylvania State University in 1971 and was a postdoctoral fellow with the National Institutes of Health at the Oregon Regional Primate Research Center. She subsequently published thirty-six manuscripts in scientific journals and worked as a supervisory research scientist with the National Marine Fisheries in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Hawkes's work was honored with a U.S. National Achievement Award, and she was elected to the position of Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Following a near-death experience that inspired her to change careers, she earned a master's in pastoral ministry from Seattle University and extensively explored indigenous healing traditions throughout Southeast Asia alongside renowned native healers. Book Synopsis

Our bodies glow with the miracle of life pulsing in 100 trillion cells. Spiritual resources can positively influence the wizardry of our natural cell science that repairs and renews the body. Cell-Level Healing: The Spiritual Bridge From Soul to Cell provides instruction at the interface of biology and spirit.

While Masaru Emoto shows us that our thoughts change the structure of water, Dr. Hawkes shows that our thoughts change the functioning of our cells.

Profoundly effective, yet simple to understand and use, the principles of appreciation, clearing, flow, and cell-level healing described and illustrated in Cell-Level Healing promote vibrant health. The book embarks on the premise that healing is a basic part of human nature, and provides a guide for the reader to tap their innate healing abilities.

Introducing the concept of cell-level healing, the book leads the reader through exercises for health and healing. Illustrated with stories, electron microscope photography, and other inspiring pictures by the author, the book shows how simple tenets of spiritual healing can be applied to individual situations.

1. Appreciation of the physical body is described through the eyes of a cell biologist with spiritual insight. Attributes of the universe that apply to healing include mystery, creativity, balance, and resiliency.

2. The principle of clearing addresses emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects.

3. A chapter on flow examines the nature of soul language or vibrational uniqueness, rate, and direction of energy movement.

4. Deepening the conscious reach of healing to the cellular level gives this book its unique place among the collection of books on healing.

Library Journal

If the body's energy level can be compared to a savings account, then we could all use some sound advice for building and maintaining a healthy balance. Fortunately, two new books are appropriate for responsible energy investors and spendthrifts alike. After a near-death experience, biophysicist Hawkes peered into her microscope with the new awareness that healing begins, as illness does, at the cellular level. In Cell-Level Healing, she offers lucid explanations of energy flow and basic cellular biology, guiding readers through exercises in body awareness, the identification and clearing of blockages, and the application of cell-level healing to specific conditions. One of her most profound insights is that the human body at the cellular level mirrors the cosmos in its endless cycles of creation and destruction. In addition to charts on color attributes, cell structure, and traditional energy centers, this book also includes photographic visualization and meditation aids. Healer and spiritual counselor Hansen presents a broader (or at least less microscopic) perspective by addressing nutrition, sleep, exercise, and bodywork. Her clear meditation instructions and thoughtful discussions of various spiritual principles, such as forgiveness and gratitude, make her book especially useful to readers who may be new to self-healing. The chapter on releasing limitations introduces effective strategies for overcoming self-hatred and the need for external validation. A CD-ROM of audio meditations (not heard) provides further guidance to readers. Both titles are recommended for large public and consumer health libraries, but smaller libraries with the funds for only one would be better served by Hansen's book, which recalls the works of Judith Orloff.-Blanche Angelo, Oakland P.L., CA Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
