Children's Literature

Jack and Annie travel back in time two hundred and sixty years to Venice, Italy, in this "Magic Tree House" book. Their friends, Teddy and Kathleen, apprentices to Merlin, visited them at the oak tree house with information about this new mission. When Jack and Annie complete four missions, they will be able to make magic on their own. So, it is very important to get this mission done well especially since Venice could be destroyed during carnival time if Jack and Annie don't intervene. The duo was given a book of ten magic rhymes to help them to figure out how to keep Venice and its people safe from an imminent flood. Jack and Annie rely on this research book a lot when looking at canals and riding gondolas. They meet Tiepolo, a famous painter, and come to know the Ruler of the Seas and the Great Lady of the Lagoon. A flying lion, similar to Aslan of Narnia, finally helps Jack and Annie hold back the flood. The carnival continues and Venice is saved.
