Donald B. Rice is a Professor Emeritus of French, Hamline University. His research interests include literary theory and twentieth-century French novels. He is co-author of ALLONS-Y!, JE VEUX BIEN, DU TAC AU TAC, and AUTOUR DE LA LITTÓRATURE. Professor Rice received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

The Fifth Edition of AUTOUR DE LA LITTÓRATURE retains its unique approach to literature, encouraging students to play and create with the language as they explore both classical and non-traditional Francophone literature. The Fifth Edition consists of thirty-one texts divided into three groups on the basis of difficulty. AUTOUR DE LA LITTÓRATURE is printed in workbook format in order both to facilitate writing activities and to break down the fear and mistrust that many students have of literature. While maintaining the basic style and thrust of previous editions, changes are aimed at responding even more directly to changing student interests.
