Author Biography: William Cane

William Cane is the pen name of Michael Christian, who teaches English at Boston College, and who has been researching this topic "since a very early age." Author of The Art of Hugging and The Art of Kissing Book of Questions and Answers, he lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Book Synopsis

You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss...but there may be more to it than just putting two sets of lips together. William Cane has up-to-date guidance on this most romantic of connections, and it's the most comprehensive in existence. What could be more romantic on Valentine's Day than a sweet kiss or two? The Art of Kissing is a fun, entertaining, and thoroughly informative book!

Library Journal

In this lighthearted manual, Cane, a retired university English teacher, covers 28 types of kisses, devoting an excellent section to the French kiss. Some recommendations for increasing "kissability" stray into hyperbole or contradict each other, the philosophical chapter seems clunky if satirical, and there are no references or bibliography. But the kissing techniques and quotes from "real people" are delightful and fascinating, making this book stand out. For the first edition (1991), Cane surveyed 300 people about preferences and techniques; for this expanded edition, he credits input from "a hundred thousand people" via the Internet. Suitable for teens and adults; recommended for public libraries. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
