Written just for toddlers, this is the third book in the popular series.
More than 250 songs, rhymes, and chants especially for toddlers and two-year-olds have been collected in this book by two veteran early childhood educators. Several pages of introduction tout the value of "talking" and singing in developing literacy skills for both speakers and nonspeakers, as well as provide tips for teachers or caregivers in working with both. Other developmental domains are discussed, with caution to teachers on not overscheduling or planning for children this age. Encouragement for teachers to sing with joy without concern for musical ability is included. The songs are featured in alphabetical order and each one includes the words with suggested melody, follow-up questions, language enrichment activities, extension activities in other developmental domains, and lists of related stories. A thematic chart at the end of the book groups related songs and chants. American Sign Language graphics illustrate simple words and the alphabet for teaching, and an alphabetical index of songs, and one for chants and rhymes are included.
