Simon Wood is English, living in US with his American wife. Rounding off his family is Royston, a Longhaired Dachshund, and Streetcar, a cat, both rescued from the barbaric Californian streets. In the last two years, Simon has had over fifty stories published in the US, UK, Germany and Australia.

Accidents Waiting To Happen is his debut novel. His second novel We All Fall Down is due for release in late 2002, also from Barclay Books.

Josh Michaels is a happily married family man from Sacramento with dark secrets he wouldn't want his family to know. Eight years ago, he took a kickback to pay for his daughter's medical bills when she was born with major medical problems. Stupidly, he confessed his sin to his mistress and later had to buy her silence. His deceptions remain hidden for years until a botched attempt on his life throws his respectable existence into a tailspin.

His car is forced off the road and into a river. The person who caused the accident doesn't help, but instead, gives him a "thumbs down" gesture as the car sinks. Josh nearly drowns but somehow survives. His world crumbles again when days later, his ex-mistress comes back to town with new demands.

Josh is further strafed by deadly near misses, which take the lives of friends and allies. Through the tragedy, he discovers he's not alone. Other people are dying in bizarre events all over the US and not one of these holds up as an 'accident' under intense scrutiny.

In a desperate race to keep his crime a secret, rid himself of his blackmailer and hold onto his marriage, he must tear the target off his back and pin it on the perpetrator.

I recommend that everyone read ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN. You will not be able to put it down until that last page, and then you will want more from this very gifted and talented author. I know I definitely do. I will be impatiently waiting for Simon's next book.
