Packed with easy-to-play games based on the latest brain research!
What a great read for parents or even preschool teachers looking for creative brain games for children. The book is nicely divided into eight age groups, starting at 1215 months all the way to 3336 months. With this age breakdown, the brain games focus on particular age groups, keeping in mind the child's brain development at that stage. For example, the "Sing Song Game," presented for children 12 to 15 months, suggests singing phrases to children as brain research says such activity enhances a child's language acquisition skills. An exercise in the 27 to 30 month range, "Magazine Fun," suggests cutting out pictures and making animal flash cards. When the child sees the card, he or she is to pretend to be that animal. Simple creative games like these are highlighted and supported by specific brain research, which hones in on brain stimulation. It's truly a treasure chest for parents and teachers alike in learning how to engage children's brains. 2000, Gryphon House Inc., Ages 12 up, $14.95. Reviewer: Melinda Tierney
