Second Edition.

DR. LAURA SCHLESSINGER TOLD HER NATIONAL RADIO AUDIENCE: "BUY THIS BOOK!"Author Diane Dean-Epps pokes fun at the real-life happenings that make up the experiences of married couples and parents everywhere in what she considers the four major areas of our parenting life cycle…In-Volvement (Marriage), In-Utero (Maternity), In-Sanity (Motherhood) and In-House (Management). These sections are organized into easy-to-read segments that allow the time poor, poorly timed parent, to pick up, put down, pick up and put down the book almost as often as they do their own children.

The idea for Maternal Meanderings was born simultaneously with the writer's second child. (Or, as Dean-Epps says, "Okay, AFTER the epidural wore off and AFTER I had washed approximately 1,233 baby items and AFTER I could get my shirt on over my post-birth Pamela Lee Anderson pre-reduction breasts.)

Maternal Meanderings has comedy for everyone, whether you're having a mid-life crisis, a hormonal crisis or parenting crisis. The book applies to testosterone and estrogen producers alike, and it will make you laugh, ease your tensions and remind you that the nutty world of parenting is a world of shared experiences.

Diane Dean-Epps has worked in television and radio, performed in commercials as both on-air talent and voice talent, as well as performing her own stand-up comedy routines that she has written. As a popular humor columnist her writing has appeared regularly for the past several years in numerous periodicals, most notably the San Francisco Chronicle, The Contra Costa Times, The Union and at ParentingHumor.com.

I truly enjoyed this book and intend to recommend it to every mom (and dad, too) that I know. Reading these slice-of-life snippets is a lot like having a chat with a good friend on a morning walk. She covers subjects familiar to all of us--from ATM machines to pest control to getting (and paying for) crowns at the dentist's office. She, by the way, mentioned her crown was $680. I just paid $840 for mine!
Ms. Dean-Epps, it was fun getting to know the "amalgam that is you!" My only complaint is that I wasn't ready for the book to end. Will there be more?

I bought this book after I heard Dr. Laura Schlessinger tell her audience that it was as funny as anything Erma Bombeck had written. Dr. Laura was partly correct...only comment I have is that this book is FAR more humorous than what I recall from the wonderful Erma. I echo Dr. Laura's comments: You simply have to buy this book. If you're a Mom, you're going to laugh, and laugh and laugh.
