About the author
Juliet Mofford has 18 books in print, 2 of which received national awards from the American Association of State & Local History. A former museum educator, she has developed programs and produced plays about the Salem Witch Trials and slavery. "Abigail Accused: A Story of the Salem Witch Hunt" and "Captain Redlegs Greaves: A Pirate by Mistake"(based on her husband's Caribbean ancestor), first uploaded on Amazon Direct Publishing, were published by Touch Point Press, which also released "I Shall Use My Freedom - Josiah Henson, Fugitive Slave," in 2018.
Two books for middle-school readers are available on Kindle. "Polio War," is a memoir written as a historical novel narrated by a 9 year old hospitalized with polio during World War II. It is filled with nostalgic references to life on the Home Front during the 1940s and the sadness of losing a son in battle.
"The Mail-Order Puppy" is a humorous family tale about a third grader whose brother obtains an mischievous Irish Setter in hopes of training the dog to pull him in his wheelchair. It takes place in the 1940s when it was common to ship pets via railway express, decades before Animal Rights agencies and internet shopping.
Juliet holds a degree from Tufts University with graduate studies at Boston University and in Europe. She has taught in Japan, Puerto Rico, and Spain and now lives in Midcoast Maine. She is available for research assignments and is currently teaching workshops on Memoir Writing. Contact jmofford1@yahoo.com or tootie3214@gmail.com
