Unlike a couple of other books about and/or by Verlen Kruger, I got through this one pretty quick and enjoyed it. I am a fan of the guru Verlen Kruger and his boats, I have four.

Good book overall, about a most extraordinary man. Well researched and documented. At times, it did drag a bit toward the end. I would have liked to see more on the developmental designs of the canoes, especially the Dreamcatcher. But, overall, a very well done piece. Well worth the reading for canoe/kayak aficionados.

A good account of Verlen Kruger's accomplishments. A must read for anyone who likes modern decked canoes and expedition trips.

This is a great read! Peterson does a nice job walking his readers through the life of an amazingly interesting individual: Verlen Kruger. It is easy to tell that Peterson really liked his subject and went to great lengths for Verlen's back story. He has also provided a veritable cornucopia of great photos that document this paddler's various exploits. I think what stood out most to me in this book was the fact that Verlen's paddling career (which was something like 100,000 miles in a canoe) didn't start until his early 40's. Life has its mysteries and you just never know when you'll discover and embrace a new passion. This book is worth the price if you only open the first couple of pages and stare at the trip maps...insane and inspirational.
