Ramana Maharshi (1879–1950) was one of the greatest spiritual teachers of modern-day India. At the age of seventeen he attained a profound experience of the true Self. ......"It was in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1982 when in the "Thekes" bookstore, for the first time i held a book of this sublime sage 'Ramana, the Maharishi' of South India" When i opened the book & saw His direct gaze towards me. All of a sudden I felt His spiritual Presence that immersed me in an unexpected state of heavenly Bliss! In that ecstatic rapture i 'felt' powerfully, that He called me there, as His devotee, which i totally accepted at that moment. -And even my present legal name, is testimony of my blessed conversion, since February 1982, which changed my Life & gave me the most profound blessings, ever since. But anyway, since here i am supposed to share my review of this spiritual Scripture ..i can declare that it's my most favorite transformative book in the world. It's perfect for mature & sincere seekers of the ultimate everlasting Peace. -They, like me ..might begin the most fruitful journey of their Life! For those destined for reading this mystical scripture ..will find it's words, very clear, understandable & profound. -Never an ambiguous intelectual reading. -On the contrary! While reading other works of Ramana, such as Talks, this is the best I have read as a succinct overview of his Teaching, and of Advaita (NonDuality). Each segment is an introduction to one vital aspect of the over-all Teaching, and each segment brief enough to be read in a matter of minutes. Reading Ramana is like sitting in the Presence of True Holiness: the spirit through the writings, that of Ramana and others like him, enhacing the wisdom and impressing it mysteriously upon the Heart: or as Ramana would say, the Guru pushing from without, the Guru pulling from within. "The Spiritual Teaching of Ramana Maharshi" may be of inestimable value to intermediate and advanced spiritual seekers, but, without equivocation, most of the messages in this book are way, way over my head. While learning about this saint from other sources including some videos, it is apparent to me that he is extremely advanced and is therefore in such an exulted state that presenting truths to an exceptionally untried seeker (like myself) may be a bit challenging; akin to Stephen Hawking describing "M Theory" to a frog. In many ways this work is congruent with "The Holy Science" in as much as it reads like an auto repair manual. Also, I'm not typically a great fan of dialectic (i.e. question and answer) type of works - they just seem cumbersome.

I'm sure that this book will have much value to other readers that are more spiritually mature than I am, but for me 3 stars on the board and a real 2.5 is all I can give.
