British Columbia is a land rich in fly-fishing opportunities, from the troul in its famed lakes on the Interior plateau, to the wild and large free-rising summer-run steelhead of the Dean and Skeena river systems to the Pacific salmon that roam the coastal waters and many rivers. Even before British Columbia became a Canadian province in 1871, for nearly 150 years, fly-fishers have sought out its game fish.

Because of its diversity of fly-fishing opportunities, British Columbia has become a land rich in fly-tying talent as is evident by the 60 or so fly tiers who have contributed flies to Contemporary Fly Patterns of British Columbia. Besides a detailed list of components, full-frame photographs illustrate each fly and narratives follow each fly's recipe. Some narratives are concise While others relate the contributor's thoughts on the fly's development and often include hints about why the fly is an excellent fish-catcher, or maybe how to fish the fly effectively.

I love this book. Contains some great flies. However, the book itself does not contain techniques. If you are unfamiliar with fly tying techniques, use Youtube while tying. There are many great instructional videos that can help you create some of these fantastic patterns.
