About the Author

Dirk Willem Rose worked for the KWPN (Royal Dutch Warmblood Studbook) from 1994 until 2006 and runs a breeding farm in the Netherlands. Anky van Grunsven is a two-time Olympic individual Gold Medalist.

I have to say I had really high hopes for this book having some very interesting information and I was a little disappointed. First of all, the book is all based of the KWPN registry so it is very Warmblood-centric. I realize that this is part of dressage, but I think the book was a little off putting in regards to other breeds especially those that have shown themselves to be equally capable of dressage. The book has decent information, but I think it just scratches the surface in regards to what to look for in a future dressage partner. It is probably a pretty decent overview and touches nicely on the basics, but some of the information is very obvious. There are a few gems to find, but overall I still only give it about a C+.
