I bought this book for my daughter and, while some very helpful information is provided, she pooh-poohed most of it because the book is more than 10 years old. As she says, "a lot can change in ten years." It would be nice if the guide were updated every 3-5 years.

This book gives students inside tips on the college application process. For anyone trying to make sense of what to focus on as you are researching colleges and what to focus on after you're admitted this book offers great advice. It gives a general run through what options are available for standard testing, such as the SAT, and applying for financial aid. It even gives a list of scholarship opportunities to look into. Even more helpful is the list of hundreds of colleges and the resources and support that they offer for Black students. I highly recommend this book to any Black student who is trying to navigate their college search process, no matter how early in the search process they are.
