Climbing Higher Hardcover – June 26, 1905

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 134 ratings

"In 1999, after almost twenty years of mysterious symptoms that he tried to ignore, Montel Williams, a decorated former naval intelligence officer and Emmy Award-winning talk show host, was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Like others suffering from the devastating and often disabling disease, which attacks the central nervous system, Montel was first struck with denial, fear, depression, and anger. Yet somehow he emerged with a fierce determination not to be beaten down by MS, and to live the most vital and productive life possible while becoming a dedicated spokesperson and fundraiser for the disease." In addition, with the help of a team of leading doctors, Montel offers up-to-the-minute information on new MS research and guidance for managing MS.

It was a great book! Not only was it very informative, but it was a great read. Montel shared his life and experiences and it was great to see things through his eyes. MS is a scary illness and it can be debilitating, not only physically, but mentally. It was refreshing to see someone as strong as Montel show us the struggle that he too fights. I would suggest that anyone struggling with MS or any chronic illness read this book and gain strength & encouragement.

This book is absolutely life changing, even if you don't particularly like Montel. It changed my way of thinking, as well as our daily diet. I have reccommended this to other friends, and have it on my bookshelf for reference.

Montel is my hero! I am 64 years old and I finally found someone that gets it. I am a man that has worked on his feet all of my life and I suffer from chronic pain and neuropathy. I do not have MS, bur Montel has led me to the source of relief. Great motivator, mentor, man!

This book is easy to read. Montel was very honest about his battle with MS. The back portion of the book contains questions from Montel to various Doctors and their answers. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for information about MS or has been recently diagnosed with MS. Book was delivered way before expected. Overall, a great transaction.

If u want an honest depiction of this disease Montel gives it to you! I appreciate his open candidness and how his life has been changed by his dx. I too am newly diagnosed and tryin to get any and all info and opinions as well as facts dealing with MS. Thank you Mr. Williams. I know it wasn't easy to accept then to let others know but you were strong and that's very admirable as well as commendable.

I have this book & wanted to get one for my mom. This is an amazing book about Montel & his early struggles with MS. Hopefully my mom will know a little of what I'm going through.

At first reading I liked the smooth easy way of Montels wording. Making you feel as if you are a personal friend. Then in a few chapters it seems as if he gets rambling about bits & pieces, losing track of where he was going making reading/understanding a bit difficult. He settles back down for a chapter or two. When it hits again he must still be miffed about the subject b/c he goes on and on and on and on and on. He gets smooth and personal again only to get on his soapbox about the medical use of marijana - which I MUST ADMIT he did give me a different outlook about the subject than I had before reading this chapter, but he just didn't want to let it go. Again going on and on and on and on and on some more - enough already. The book is a small peek into some of the hardships he has endured. It is a book you can read in a evening and come away with maybe a different outlook - then again maybe not!

How to deal with life when life is full of lemons. Learned the need to fight MS from many different angles. Pain and clumsiness maybe part of my light but MS doesn't need to control my life.
