"The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" is a really fine collection of short stories regarding the various adventures of the famous mythical detective. This, of course, are not all of the Sherlock Holmes stories. It is a series of short stories. They are very well written in the late British Victorian styles. There is no profanity or obscenity. Many of the stories are by clever. By necessity they are abbreviated versions of true police mystery investigations. However the style is excellent.

I have been reading Sherlock Holmes mysteries in the order of publication. I have enjoyed every one of them. I suppose I should emphasize that I am a fan of British Victorian Literature. As police investigations they are seldom complete. It is the writing that I enjoy as much as the mysteries.

In the event that one has heard of Professor Moriarty in regard to Sherlock Holmes, he does finally appear here in the last story, "The Final Problem". I suppose I should also mention that I have found all of these stories on line at no cost. However for .99, I was very glad to have purchased this collection. I am reading and listening to a corresponding audiobook of Sherlock Holmes stories and am really enjoying he experience.

In summary, I have really enjoyed this fine collection. These are stories that adults and children can enjoy. Each story can be read in one or two reasonably length sittings. I am really glad to have come across this collection. Thank You for taking the time to read this review.

I am loving all the Sherlock Holmes books. I love all the mysteries and how I can never figure out the answer. At least not completely

These are shorter stories of more of his adventures, which I don't recall reading before. Ending in telling a little more of Moriarty. Enjoyable read...I'd recommend especially for us die hard fans of Watson and Sherlock.

Very good collection of Sherlock Holmes adventures. Any Sherlock can will enjoy. Even reading the same tale for a second time is still satisfying.

Having been a long time since I had read any of the Doyle's stories, I reread with interest Watson's telling of their adventures. Each story is a quick read, but for a fan of the modern adaptations of their exploits, it's fun to see where some of the characterizations and story plots have come from. Helps me get past the Nigel Bruce rendering of Watson. We see a Watson that though intelligent and a quick study of Holmes' methods, he has great admiration of the problem solving skills of his friend. We see a Holmes, in some of the tales visiting Watson at his home, stopping by for visits in which he reports to Watson what he's been doing and perhaps he requires Watson's help again. All in all, I found the Memoirs a refreshing read.

I picked this up to have a nice Kindle edition of this portion of the Holmes works. It's nicely produced and formatted for the Kindle, and worth getting, particularly as long as the publisher continues to offer this special edition here on Amazon at zero cost.

Be aware, though, that this is far from the complete Holmes stories. My recommendation for someone wanting a complete collection is to pick up this Kindle e-book:
Sherlock Holmes: The Ultimate Collection . It's selling for a modest 99 cents at the present time here on Amazon, and it has essentially everything (see my review for the details: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1XW9M0NM1AQSK/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00DCD53C2).

I love audio books. When you are busy and can't read there is someone there to read to you! This is a good read if you are into Sherlock, easy to listen to and since it is short stories there is always a good place to take a break. The voice of the reader suits the book well. This is the second Sherlock Holmes audio book I have purchased.
