I really liked this book from beginning to end. The plot of the book was a little different and overall was really cute. I would recommend this book to anyone :)

I love when a book gives exactly what it promises with good writing and no unnecessary tricks like out of the blue Vampires. Perfect Shot was such a joy to read. If I had known I was going to enjoy it has much as I did, I would've read it sooner.

15 yr old London is a volleyball star. She's working part time at an art store to raise money for volleyball summer camp. A guy (Brent) catches London's attention at the art store. She soons finds herself accidentally entering a modeling competition to catch Brent's attention, a photography intern.

London doesn't feel like she fits in with the other girls. Rigaud does a great job of developing and creating a very likable character in London. Yes, she's tall and beautiful but she's still unsure because of all the name calling in middle school. So its easy why London would feel insecure around the other contestants. Plus, London is more sporty than fashion. It's her best friend Pam that has the eye for fashion.

London's biggest competition is an old frenemy, Kelly. I loved the contest. Think, Next Top Model but online with believable challenges. The Perfect Shot was a whole lot of fun to read. I loved London and Pam. I laughed out loud many times.

Perfect Shot is a part of Simon & Schuster's Romantic Comedy series. It's the first one that features Black characters. It's was so nice to read a light, fun and well written YA book with characters of color. Ages 11 up

Ok I know the title of my review is corny, but whatever, I attempted to convey volleyball terminology in the title.

Fav quote: "Besides it's a known fact that if you don't care enough about what you're fighting for, you are less likely to win the battle." London

Perfect shot was a such a cute read. It's fast-paced with a great cast of characters. Pam was my favorite characters, she's an HDQ (Haitian Drama Queen) and she's hilarious! I liked London (the main character) too, especially how she went out of her comfort zone and her reactions were so realistic, she was nervous but also determined to succeed. Brent sounds like a cute guy, although I would have liked to see him developed a little more, he wasn't compltely swoon-worthy (except in his apperance from what I gathered, yummy! haha), but that's realistic (I just mean that he wasn't a perfect guy and I didn't feel that I got to know him that well, but the little details I learned about him made him seem like a good guy).

The book is sprinkled with pop-culture references that you may not know, but I recommend you look them up because they are about cool people or places. The modeling competition ideas are different and very creative, I think a modeling show/competition should take notes from this book!

I would highly recommend this book to all romance lovers and people looking for a quick, fun and somewhat inspirational read =)

Perfect Shot is well written and relatable. My female students enjoyed taking this romantic journey with London! They also connected to this African-American heroine and her best friend immediately because they recognized this relationship in their own lives. More books like this are necessary for our community!

This was such a great book to read! I couldn't put it down! London's simple crush on a cute guy evolves into a microcosm of one's journey into self-discovery. The author manages to capture the essence of human emotions like doubt, regret, embarrassment and humor all in one "perfect shot". This book is a must read! Go get yourself a copy!
